A man armed with a gun robbed a Kingsport pharmacy Wednesday morning, making away with a bag of medication.

It occurred at 9:13 a.m. at Walgreens, 2790 East Stone Drive. A white male wearing a white hoodie, red cloth over his face and wielding a silver handgun demanded medication from the pharmacy staff, who then pointed him in the direction of the narcotics.

Police say the suspect, who was also wearing blue jeans and tennis shoes, walked behind the counter, filled a plastic bag with the meds and left the store. He was last seen running up New Beason Well Road.

Kingsport police temporarily blocked traffic on the road in both directions, and searched a wooded area with a K-9 for about 45 minutes. KPD Det. Monica Powers said the suspect may have fled in a vehicle after running a distance from the store.

Anyone with information on the suspect should contact Kingsport Police at 229-9429.
