An employee of a Kingsport pizza restaurant was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a laptop computer that belonged to his boss.

According to an arrest report at the Kingsport Police Department, the theft occurred at Fox's Pizza Den, 1233 North Eastman Road. The general manager had left her laptop at the restaurant the night before. When employees arrived on Tuesday morning it was reportedly present in the kitchen area, accessible only to restaurant staff.

The general manager reports that when she arrived to work at 3 p.m. the computer was missing. According to the police report, she requested two employees that were present to hand over their car keys, so she could search for the missing laptop.

The responding officer says that when he arrived on scene the manager already had their keys, with the laptop being located in the trunk of one of their cars.

The officer then spoke with the employee that owned the car, Calvin C. Shoemaker, 28, of 525 Dale St. He allegedly admitted to stealing the computer.

Shoemaker was subsequently arrested and charged with theft of more than $500.
