Student who pulled gun on teacher gets 12 years

Clay Carey • Apr 17, 2010 at 12:00 AM

The Tennessee teenager who pointed a gun at an Overton High School teacher blamed his youth for his poor choices. But he also blamed others.

Ezzealldin Al-Mosawi, now 19, was sentenced to 12 years behind bars after he agreed to plead guilty to attempted second-degree murder for pointing a handgun at special education teacher Charlie Traylor. He will be eligible for parole in about four years. "Now I'm grown," Al-Mosawi said. "Hopefully, it will not happen again."

He pulled the gun on the teacher in February 2009 after she reported him for tardiness.
