Ex-Hamblen deputy accused of being sexual predator sentenced to 188 months for civil rights violations

GREENEVILLE - A former Hamblen County sheriff's deputy was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to 188 months in federal prison for civil rights violations. Dexter L. Morris Jr., 36, of Morristown was convicted in June 2009.He was accused of detaining and raping a female motorist, compelling a Hamblen County Jail inmate to expose her breasts or face additional charges and engaging in inappropriate behavior with a teenage female driver, all in 2005.
While a Hamblen County jailer in August 2003, Morris also compelled a female inmate to engage in sexual activity, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
