Couple charged with operating meth lab again

ERWIN — The couple arrested in early March for allegedly operating a meth lab out of a Unicoi hotel room was again arrested Thursday evening, by Boone, N.C., police, and charged with manufacturing meth in a hotel room there.

Jason Thomas Eldred, 29, 9055 Elk Creek Road, Deep Gap, N.C., and Kelly Lee Tester, 22, 900 Laurel Road, Mountain City, were charged by the Boone Police Department with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a release from the Boone Police Department, officials discovered an active clandestine meth lab in the Scottish Inn hotel room of Eldred and Tester while serving an arrest warrant for Tester out of Unicoi County.
