A 73-year-old woman allegedly returned to her Blountville home on Thursday to find a man with a knife, who then threatened to kill her if she didn't hand over money and drugs.

According to a report filed at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. The woman entered her residence, located off Highway 11-W, to find a white male inside, armed with a knife.

The report says the man, who wore a bandana over his face, pointed the knife at the woman and demanded money, medication and jewelry. The victim claims the man said that if she didn't comply, "I will kill you."

The woman handed over $16 in cash, 15 Valium and 2 meclizine. A police report says he also robbed her of a Phoenix Arms .25-caliber nickel pistol with ivory grips.

The man then ran out the woman's back door, which detectives say had signs of forced entry.

The suspect is described as about 6 feet tall and 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing tan shorts, a dark shirt and dark bandana over his face.

Anyone with information on the suspect should call the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office at (423) 279-7500.
