TALLASSEE - A section of a world-famous motorcycling highway in Blount County remains closed following a massive rockslide Sunday morning.

Yvette Martinez, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, said Monday that it is unknown when the section of U.S. Highway 129 will reopen.

The slide occurred just south of the highway's junction with the Foothills Parkway when huge boulders and rubble tumbled onto the roadbed, closing both lanes. The southbound lane was reopened briefly but was closed again because of safety concerns, Martinez said.
