A 22-year-old woman, reported missing by authorities, was found dead Sunday at the bottom of a steep embankment in South Knoxville where she apparently had lain unnoticed for more than a day after being killed in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend.
April Keck had been reported missing by the Knox County Sheriff's Office, whose investigators said she was last seen leaving Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria in the Old City shortly after midnight Saturday.
Investigators said her vehicle also might have been involved in a high-speed chase with a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper on Chapman Highway in the early morning hours of Saturday. A THP dispatcher confirmed Sunday that troopers had called off a chase with a black Mitsubishi on Chapman Highway about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, because of bad weather and slick roads.
