KINGSPORT — Two people have been arrested and charged with breaking into a medicine cart at a Kingsport nursing home and stealing patients’ medications.

Kingsport police say Elisa Minton Henry, 29, has been arrested. Timothy Wayne Henry, 32, is currently incarcerated at the Morgan County Correctional Facility and awaiting transport to Kingsport. A Kingsport Police Department press release did not identify what charges he is currently jailed on.

They are each charged with burglary and theft of more than $1,000, with their address listed as 417 Barnett Drive, Trailer No. 17, Kingsport. KPD Detective Cliff Ferguson declined to comment on how the pair were developed as suspects or if they were visiting anyone housed at the facility.

Kingsport police received a report of the theft on Feb. 5. Employees at Holston Manor, 3641 Memorial Blvd., reported seeing two people walking around their facility. A short time later, nursing home personnel discovered the lock on a medicine cart had been pried open, and residents’ medication was missing.

Police said that shortly after the discovery the couple were seen leaving the facility. Employees of the nursing home reportedly gave chase but were unable to catch them.

Police noted their arrests are “a direct result of the outstanding cooperation of the staff and management of Holston Manor.”
