Police said $890 of the money, along with two baggies of marijuana, was hidden in the left side of the female suspect’s bra. The right side allegedly concealed a bottle of Xanax.
According to an incident report from the Kingsport Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated driver at Wendy’s, 10154 Airport Parkway. They located a 1999 Ford Contour in the parking lot and spoke with the two occupants.
Police said the driver, Brock Lawson, 23, 140 Chariot Trail, Limestone, was disoriented.
“The pupils of his eyes were pinpointed, his speech was very slow,” the police report states.
Lawson gave consent to search the vehicle, according to the report, leading to the discovery of four baggies of marijuana in a Wendy’s bag. Police said Lawson was then given a series of sobriety tests and performed poorly.
Lawson’s wife, Jessica Lawson, 29, was asked to exit the vehicle. Police said that while patting her down a suspicious object was found in the left side of her bra.
When removed, the object turned out to be two baggies of marijuana, a pouch containing $825, and a plastic bag containing $65, police said. Police said they also located a bottle of Xanax hidden in the right side of Lawson’s bra.
In her purse, police allegedly discovered a cut straw used for sniffing crushed narcotics and two bundles of cash — one totaling $1,190, the other $1,082.
Brock Lawson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence second offense and possession of Schedule VI narcotics for resale.
Jessica Lawson was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession of Schedule IV narcotics for resale, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police report the cash, totaling $3,162, was seized.
