A single-car traffic crash in Kingsport has killed a man, and temporarily closed the westbound portion of East Stone Drive near Arcadia Drive.

At about 11:00 a.m. Kingsport Police responded to the wreck, at the bridge over Reedy Creek. A Buick was traveling west on 11-W when it veered for unknown reasons and hit the guardrail.

The guardrail then went through the car's engine and driver's compartment, exiting through the trunk.

The driver, a male who has not been identified, was the only victim of the crash. According to Kingsport police officer John McGee, witnesses said the car was moving erratically before the wreck occurred.

As of noon, westbound 11-W was expected to be closed for at least an hour as authorities cleared the scene.
