Crews stabilizing boulders along I-40 in N.C., aiming for March reopening

HARMON DEN, N.C. - They are working 'round the clock to fix the rocks.

With the Christmas break behind them, crews on Monday resumed their work to stabilize mountainside boulders along Interstate 40 just inside the North Carolina line.

All lanes of I-40 in both directions between Exit 451 in Tennessee and Exit 20 in North Carolina have been closed since October due to a rockslide. North Carolina Department of Transportation officials are anticipating the road can be reopened in March.
