Former Campbell County deputy, facing charges, kills self

CARYVILLE - A former Campbell County Sheriff's Office reserve deputy who was facing criminal charges today in court committed suicide this morning in a restaurant parking lot.

Jessie Ray Bransome, 36, of LaFollette killed himself with a 12-gauge shotgun while sitting in his Ford F-150 pickup truck, Caryville Police Chief Bill Widener said this morning.

Widener said Bransome at 6:03 a.m. called the Campbell County E-911 Center to say he was parked at a Chinese restaurant and planned to kill himself.
