Kingsport man allegedly stabs girlfriend in head with pen

A Kingsport man was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in the head with a writing pen.

According to an incident report at the Kingsport Police Department, officers responded to 1420 Carolina Ave. at approximately 3:20 a.m. The victim advised her boyfriend, who was drunk, had an earlier altercation at their residence with his brother and friends.

The victim told police her boyfriend, Ronald J. Hilliard, 29, had left the home and she had put their children to bed. Hilliard returned some time later, allegedly pulling the victim from her bed by the hair.

According to the police report, the victim attempted to get back into bed but Hilliard, "grabbed a writing pen and stabbed her in the head." Police say he then spit in her face and punched her several times.

Police note in their report that the victim had bruising to her face and was bleeding from the head.

After the alleged attack the victim ran to a neighbors home and called police. When they arrived Hilliard had left the scene, but was later located in the area.

Hilliard was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The victim was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment to her injuries, and has since been released.

Police report that while at the hospital the couple's children were released to the care of another household, at the request of the victim.
