KINGSPORT — A Church Hill woman was arrested after cursing the staff of a Kingsport emergency room then attempting to call 911 and “get a ride” to another hospital.

Kingsport police say the woman became confrontational after “demanding certain procedures that the ER didn’t deem necessary.” The procedures she sought were not identified in a report on the incident.

Heather Danyelle Arnold, 31, 195 Okalona Road, Apt. 23, was arrested at 11:40 a.m. Friday. Police said they were called to the emergency room of Indian Path Medical Center, 2000 Brookside Drive, in reference to a disturbance.

“A patient had been in the emergency room and was not receiving the treatment she wanted and began yelling, cussing and causing a disturbance,” states the officer’s report.

When police arrived at the scene, Arnold was on a pay phone in the hospital ER lobby. She told police she was unhappy with her treatment at Indian Path and was calling 911 to get a ride to Holston Valley Medical Center.

“I advised Arnold that 911 was reserved for actual emergencies and she could not use 911 to get a ride to another hospital,” states the officer’s report. “She stated in a loud aggressive voice, ‘You hide and (expletive) watch me.’”

Police said Arnold’s loud voice was drawing the attention of other patients and the hospital staff. She was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

The hospital advised that Arnold had been released from their care and was not in need of immediate medical attention.
