Woman charged with stealing $2,800 in jewelry from Belk in Kingsport

A Gate City woman was arrested Saturday on felony theft charges after allegedly stealing more than $2,800 in jewelry from a Kingsport Town Center department store.

According to a report at the Kingsport Police Department, an officer was called to Belk, 2101 Fort Henry Drive, at about 7 p.m. Store personnel had detained a woman, whom they claimed concealed several pieces of jewelry within her coat and hoodie pockets.

Police report the woman, Debbie Michelle Fraysier, 43, of 185 Foliage Drive, Gate City, Va., was found in possession of 92 separate pieces of jewelry. The report says the jewelry was valued at $2,821.99, and Belk's video surveillance equipment recorded the alleged theft.

Fraysier was arrested and charged with theft over $1,000.

Police say that during booking Fraysier was found to have a pill bottle. Inside were 18 pills; one OxyContin, seven Lyrica, five Endocet and five Valium. Police say they also found a cylinder and cut straw, each containing what is believed to be drug residue.

Fraysier was additionally charged with simple possession of schedule II narcotics, simple possession of schedule IV narcotics, simple possession of schedule V narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
