More alleged victims of Johnson City car-repair scheme come forward, upping charges

Staff Report • Nov 10, 2009 at 12:00 AM

After a Johnson City man received publicity for his arrest on an alleged car repair swindling scheme he had going, three more people reported they were victims of his ploy.

Christopher A. Walls, 41, 2805 W. Walnut St. No. 20, was jailed Oct. 29 after a North Carolina woman reported a suspicious incident involving her vehicle outside a restaurant in town.

Police said Walls had a scheme going where he would disable a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot, wait nearby for the owner to leave the restaurant and when their car wouldn’t start he’d show up to save the day. He's now charged with four counts of theft under $500 and four counts of vandalism.
