Knoxville auto parts maker shutdown to come in phases starting mid-2010; 250 jobs lost

The worst recession since World War II may be nearing an end, but it’s not soon enough to save 250 jobs at auto parts maker PBR Knoxville.

PBR’s parent company, The Bosch Group, told employees Wednesday the manufacturing plant in WestBridge Business Park in West Knox County will be closed by the end of 2010.

The shutdown will come in phases starting in mid-2010, said Bosch spokeswoman Becky MacDonald.
