Tennessee car dealers file for $51M in clunker rebates

The Tennessean is reporting state auto dealers asked for almost $51 million in reimbursement under the Cash for Clunkers program.The program provided up to $4,500 cash for trading in a lower gas mileage vehicle on a new one that gets higher gas mileage.Federal officials said 700,000 older vehicles are being taken off the roads through the program.
