Blountville man arrested in BMS souvenir heist

According to the Bristol Herald Courier one of the three people who stole $7,000 worth of memorabilia from a Bristol Motor Speedway souvenir tent Friday has been arrested and most of the items have been recovered.Jacob Wheeler, 22, of Blountville, Tenn., has been charged with theft over $1,000. He posted a $2,500 bond Monday morning, according to Sullivan County jail authorities. The other thieves had not been found late Monday.The plunder included miniature diecast cars, valued at $150 each, racing jackets, backpacks, coolers, gloves and caps. Most of the items were hidden – some in the weeds behind an area church and some under Wheeler’s bed, police said. Thirty-four racing jackets are still missing. CLICK HERE for the full report.
