TVA confirms it will build 880-megawatt power plant near Rogersville

According to the Greeneville Sun, the Tennessee Valley Authority plans to build a 880-megawatt power plant next to the existing John Sevier Fossil Plant on the Holston River near Rogersville.The location was chosen following transmission and gas line studies and is pending the final plant design review under the National Environmental Policy Act, and environmental permitting."TVA already owns the property, and it makes the most sense from a transmission perspective as well," he said.Construction of the plant is expected to cost $820 million, TVA has said.
