A woman allegedly shoplifting from a Kingsport Wal-Mart bit an employee when confronted, according to Kingsport Police.

An incident report says police were called to the store, 2500 West Stone Drive, about 3:45 Tuesday afternoon. When they arrived they found a loss prevention officer had detained, Tracy June Musick, 44.

Statements given to police say the loss prevention officer saw Musick putting items into her purse while inside the store. When Musick proceeded past the check-out lanes to exit the garden center without paying, the employee attempted to stop her.

According to the police report, when Musick was confronted, "she became combative and bit" the loss prevention officer "on the arm." She was arrested and taken to the Kingsport Jail, charged with theft under $500 and simple assault.

Items recovered from Musick's purse were valued at $31.82.
