Unemployment rates for area NE Tenn. counties last month are:
Sullivan County - 9.6 percent, up from 9.1 percent last month.Hawkins County - 12.9 percent, from 13.1 percent last month.Hamblen County - 12.6 percent, up from 12.6 percent last month.Greene County - 14.2 percent, up from 15.4 percent last month.Knox County had the state’s lowest major metropolitan rate of 8.5 percent, up 0.6 percentage point from the May rate. Davidson County was 9.4 percent, up 0.8 from the previous month. Hamilton County was at 9.3 percent, up 0.6 percentage point from the May rate, and Shelby County was 10.5 percent, up from the May rate of 9.5 percent.The June unemployment rates for the three primary MSAs in NE Tenn. are:
Johnson City - 9.9 percent, up from 9.3 percent last month.Kingsport - Bristol TN-VA 10.2 percent, up from 9.8 percent last month.Morristown - 13.2 percent, up from 12.6 percent last month.Tennessee's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2009 was released last week at 10.8 percent, 0.1 percentage point higher than the May rate of 10.7 percent. The United States’ unemployment rate for the month of June was 9.5 percent.
