One person has been transported to the hospital with injuries after their car rear-ended a dump truck on 11-W.

According to Tennessee State Trooper Tim Wolfenbarger, the wreck occurred about 8:10 Tuesday morning. A Honda Civic was traveling east on 11-W when it hit the rear of a Sullivan County Highway Department dump truck.

Wolfenbarger says the dump truck had turned onto 11-W from Highway 394, and had established its roadway on 11-W. The Civic hit the dump truck about 275 feet from the intersection.

The dump truck driver was not injured, while the Civic's driver was taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries are unknown, and authorities did not release his identity.

Wolfenbarger noted that the angle of the sun, directly in the eyes of drivers eastbound on 11-W, could have been a factor. Charges are pending an investigation.
