Staff Report • Apr 8, 2009 at 12:00 AM

KINGSPORT — A truck exited the eastbound lane of East Stone Drive in Kingsport on Wednesday, rolling at least once along the bed of Reedy Creek before coming to rest on its side

Kingsport Police Department Officer Dale Farmer said the wreck occurred near Gunslingers on Highway 11-W about noon.

Farmer identified the driver as Mitchell McKinney, 19, of Watauga Street. Farmer said McKinney was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated.

McKinney was wearing his seat belt, which Farmer said most likely saved his life. McKinney was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment of apparently minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
