Morristown police chief says traffic cameras will improve traffic safety

Morristown Police Chief Roger Overholt says he wants to dispel misconception that red-light cameras are unchecked Orwellian intrusions for the sole purpose of raking in cash.According to a report in the Morristown Citizen-Tribune, living, breathing police officers review each alleged speeding or red-light infraction before a citation is authorized.If there’s a doubt, the police chief says, the ticket doesn’t go out. In fact, the chief told the Citizen-Tribune, the Morristown red-light cameras are programmed to give motorists breaks.
