Two burglars emptying goods from a Kingsport home into a van were interrupted by police early Monday morning, prompting a foot chase and arrest of one suspect.

According to a Kingsport Police incident report, officers responded to 820 Fairmont Ave. about 12:40 a.m. They were brought to the scene by an anonymous caller who saw two men bringing items out of the house.

Four officers arrived to find a van backed in the driveway. Three of the van's four doors were open, but no suspects were visible.

One officer walked to the back of the residence, finding a man running from the home. He attempted to apprehend the suspect, but the suspect jumped a wooden fence and could then not be located.

At this time another man ran from the front of the house, according to the police report. Two officers gave chase, catching him a short distance away at Mimosa and Stone Drive.

Police say that after a brief struggle the suspect, Brandon Letrelle Butts, 21, of 322 Carver St., was arrested and taken to the jail.

Police believe they have identified the other suspect who escaped, but he has yet to be located.

Police searched the van parked in the home's driveway, finding it packed with several TVs, clothes, jewelry and household items.
