Greeneville men sentenced for counterfeiting

The Greeneville Sun is reporting that three young Greene County men will spend time in prison and on probation for counterfeiting. The men pleaded guilty last October and were sentenced on Monday in U.S. District court.Court records indicate that the alleged leader of the group, Travis J. Ayers, 19, was sentenced to 20 months in federal prison. He will also spend three years on supervised release.Ayers will also have to make restitution to the victims who got the counterfeit money he passed and to complete 150 hours of community service.According to court records, Richard Johnson and Mark King were sentenced to five years in their part in the counterfeiting incident.They were also ordered to complete 150 hours of community service and to pay shares of the restitution.
