ROGERSVILLE — TRW Automotive in Rogersville announced to employees Thursday that about 45 permanent layoffs would take effect by the end of the month, reducing the Rogersville plant’s employee count to 330.
In a press release the company stated that sluggish sales in the North American auto industry are responsible for the layoffs. Affected employees had already been on an extended layoff but were expected to be brought back to work.
According to the press release, layoffs are occurring at TRW plants worldwide in response to the ailing auto market.
TRW has implemented consolidated shifts, changes in shift patterns, voluntary layoffs and voluntary retirement to address lower demand in the automotive market.
