KINGSPORT — At least two people were transported to Holston Valley Medical Center Sunday evening following a three-car accident on Stone Drive.

Kingsport police and emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Stone Drive and Sherman Place shortly before 7:30 p.m. after, according to a witness, a blue Toyota pickup pulled out of Sherman Place onto Stone Drive in the path of a white, four-door compact car.

Kasoundra Fuller witnessed the wreck and gave a statement to the Kingsport Police Department.

Fuller told the Times-News at the scene the white compact car was westbound and struck the blue pickup almost head-on when the pickup pulled out into its path.

Following the initial impact, both cars reportedly slid into the path of an eastbound white Toyota pickup driven by David Lane.

“I was just driving and someone got hit head-on and I couldn’t get out of the way,” Lane told the Times-News. “When I really started paying attention was when they hit, and I saw that I wasn’t getting out of the way.”

One occupant from the blue pickup and one occupant from the white compact car were transported to the hospital.

Names and conditions of the other people involved in the accident weren’t available late Sunday.

Eastbound and westbound traffic on Stone Drive was reduced to one lane for about 90 minutes following the wreck, which blocked the passing lanes on both sides of the highway.
