Teen charged with murdering Greene County resident

According to the Greeneville Sun, the county Sheriff's Department has charged a 19-year-old former Knoxville man with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a young Greene County resident.County Sheriff Steve Burns said Travis D. Monroe, 19, who most recently lived with his brother and cousin at a Chuckey mobile home park, was charged after he was released from the Johnson City Medical Center.The sheriff said that Monroe was being held in lieu of a $500,000 appearance bond at the Greene County Detention Center pending arraignment in General Sessions Court on Monday."We believe he (Travis Monroe) was the first one who entered the basement," Burns said. He added that Monroe is alleged to have fired a shot or the shots that killed Zachary Ryan Nave, 21, of 1415 107 Cutoff, about 7:15 p.m. Jan. 16.Nave, Travis Monroe, and Nave's roommate, Brendan Royer, 28, were all struck by gunshots in the basement of the 107 Cutoff residence where Nave and Royer lived, Burns said.
