According to the Greeneville Sun animal control officials are trying to find out why several cows died at a western Greene County farm. Animal Control Director Eddie Key said his initial investigation doesn't point to animal cruelty.According to the report, the dead cows were reported to a deputy who normally serves legal papers, by a friend of the deputy. When the deputy went to the farm, located on Easterly Road near Warrensburg, he found several dead cows and others that may have been underfed, standing or lying nearby. In a telephone interview, Animal Control Director Key told The Greeneville Sun he found five cows dead when he reached the farm.He and others involved were still trying to determine what caused the cows to die, Key said. He said the dead cows appeared to have possibly been neglected, but did not appear to be starving.
