According to a report in the Knoxville News-Sentinel a new Knoxville city ordinance outlawing front-yard parking, the product of numerous revisions and extensive neighborhood meetings, was approved by e City Council members on first reading Tuesday. The law was approved on an 8-1 vote, with Councilman Steve Hall dissenting. If approved on second reading on Dec. 30 it will become law; however, city officials say enforcement of the prohibition won’t begin until after a six-week period for public notice. There will also be another six-week grace period offering property owners a warning instead of a citation. The latest version of the ordinance is a hybrid of several earlier versions, but still includes the basic elements originally proposed by 50 neighborhood associations.
