ROGERSVILLE — Two bottles containing painkiller medication were seized from a woman arrested at the Rogersville Wal-Mart Wednesday after police were called because she was yelling and cursing at her children.

Rogersville Police Department Officer James Hammonds was called to the Wal-Mart on Route 66 Wednesday shortly before 5 p.m. on a complaint of an intoxicated woman “cursing and yelling at her children.”

Upon contacting the woman at the store, Hammonds observed her to be “very disoriented and unsteady on her feet” and that her speech was slurred.

Hammonds asked the woman, identified as Amanda Lynn Mabe, 31, 200 Arrowhead Drive, Apt. E33, Rogersville, if she had taken any drugs, and Mabe allegedly replied that she was on prescription medicine.

Store manager Greg Page told Hammonds that Mabe was banned from the store due to previous shoplifting, and she was taken into custody.

A search of Mabe’s property revealed Mabe to be in possession of six Soma pills and 24 hydrocodone pills in two separate pill bottles, Hammonds said.

Mabe was charged with public intoxication, criminal trespassing, possession of Schedule III narcotics, and possession of Schedule IV narcotics.

She is scheduled for arraignment in Hawkins County Sessions Court on Dec. 17.
