Two men have been arrested for illegally dumping four drums of toxic chemicals in South Knox County, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Knoxville News-Sentinel
the men - identified as James Emert, 26, and Antonio Smith, 24, both of Knoxville - were being held in lieu of $7,500 bond, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Martha Dooley. They were charged with violating the Hazardous Waste Management Act.
An arrest warrant has also been issued for a third suspect, Dooley said.
"The suspects were paid to properly dispose of four 55 gallon drums of unknown hazardous chemicals from Peachtree Pointe Farms in Blount County to a recycling plant in Knox County," a Sheriff's Office press release said. CLICK HERE
