More deer in Tri-Cities area increases driving danger

Staff Report • Nov 26, 2008 at 12:00 AM

According to a report by WJHL you can find more deer roaming around the trees in the Tri-Cities this winter. Tennessee Wildlife Resource officials say the deer population has increased since last year. Police are concerned the deer will cause more accidents on the roads.

It's not unusual in the Tri-Cities area to see a dead deer on the side of the road or hearing about someone colliding with one with their car. Scott Holly came close this week.

"I've never had it happen to me until then and it was within a split of a second," said Holly.

As he crested a hill at around 8:30 Monday night.

"All of a sudden, there was a deer in front of my jeep," said Holly.
He swerved to miss it.
