Kingsport lawyer facing license suspension to continue practice on probation

Staff report • Nov 10, 2008 at 12:00 AM

A Kingsport lawyer facing a 30-day suspension of his license will continue to practice on probation, according to a Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility news release.

On Nov. 3, the Tennessee Supreme Court suspended the license of Jason H. Arthur for 30 days. However, the court order will allow Arthur to continue practicing law on probation for a year in lieu of the suspension. As part of the order, Arthur will also have to pay restitution.

The attorney's license was suspended after the Board of Professional Responsibility alleged Arthur had accepted payment for cases without remitting the compensation to his former employer.

The board also alleged Arthur had written dishonest letters to physicians regarding liens.
