Fire destroys barn filled with 150 bales of hay

According to a report by theÂ Greeneville Sun, a Cedar Creek Road barn that contained 150 round bales of hay was destroyed by a fire of undetermined origin on Thursday afternoon despite the efforts of at least three volunteer fire departments.
David Darnell, owner of the 40-by-80-foot barn, said by telephone from the scene that he was riding past the barn on his all-terrain vehicle about 3:30 p.m. when he smelled smoke.
Darnell said he opened the barn\\\'s doors and used a farm tractor to remove \\\"five or six bales\\\" of hay before the stacked hay erupted in flames.
\\\"I called 911 as soon as I saw it,\\\" he said.Â
