Around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, HCSO deputies were dispatched to the BiLo Market, 515 Highway 11-E, Bulls Gap, after store clerks set off the holdup alarm.
The two clerks who were working at the time told investigators a man dressed in camouflage and brandishing a small handgun entered the store and demanded cash.
Hawkins County Sheriff Roger Christian told the Times-News Tuesday although store surveillance cameras captured the robbery, the man was wearing a mask over his face — possibly a hunting type mask.
The gunman also ordered the clerks to give him three packs of cigarettes — Marlboro Reds, Marlboro Mild and Marlboro Light.
He then ordered the clerks to lie face down on the floor and fled the store on foot.
A more detailed description of the suspect wasn’t available Tuesday. Christian said investigators are analyzing the video in hopes of finding clues.
Aside from the cigarettes, the robber got away with between $200 and $300 in cash from the register.
Anyone with information about the robber is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 272-4848.
