Authorities are searching for a man who flashed a police badge in a Kingsport alley, frisked a victim then took his money.

Kingsport police say the incident occurred Thursday behind the Wagon Wheel, 405 Cherokee St., about 5:30 p.m. The victim, identified as J.B. Littrell, says he was walking along Sullivan Street when a man yelled for his attention. Littrell approached the man, who was standing in the alley behind the PUB and Wagon Wheel, who then pulled a police badge from his pocket.

Identifying himself as being with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the suspect told Littrell to walk to the end of the alley. There, he ordered the victim to place his hands on a parked vehicle and removed a large amount of cash from his pocket. The suspect left the area walking west toward Cherokee Street, in an alley that runs parallel to Center Street.

The robber is described as a white male, well-dressed and clean shaven with a crew cut. He is about 6 feet 2 inches tall and between 190 and 195 pounds. He was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and beige pants, and is wanted for theft over $1,000.

Anyone with information should call the Kingsport Police Department at 246-9111.
