They’re both unemployed, but they’ll work for drugs -- that’s what two middle-aged Kingsport brothers allegedly told police they’d done.

Willie Robert Weatherly, 55 and Calvin Edward Weatherly, 44, face drug charges after police investigated reports of illegal drug activity at Cloud Apartments, 652 Milam St.

The pair were arrested Thursday after Kingsport Police searched their apartment, Apt. 75, and allegedly found approximately 22 grams of marijuana in one baggy and several other baggies with seeds and more plant material believed to be marijuana.

The Weatherlys claimed the drugs were for their own use, and that they'd obtained the large baggy of marijuana after doing some mechanical work for an unnamed person.

Police also seized several empty baggies, weight scales, pipes, and a Rossi .38 special revolver.

There wasn't enough food found in the apartment to sustain two people, police noted in the affidavit.

During the investigation, the Weatherlys reportedly admitted they'd smoked a "joint" before police arrived, and that all the drugs and paraphernalia police found in the apartment belonged to them as well.

The pair were arrested Oct. 11 on charges of possession of over 1/2 ounce of schedule VI drugs for resale, maintaining a dwelling where illegal narcotics are used, sold, or stored and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They each posted $2,000 bond and were released from Kingsport city jail the next day.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m.
