Around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Johnson City responded to a traffic crash with serious injuries involving a 1990 Honda Civic driven by a 17-year-old male juvenile. The Civic was traveling north on Knob Creek Road.
A 1996 Buick LeSabre, driven by Blannie Douglass, 77, 500 E. Mountain View Road, Apt. 103, Johnson City, was traveling south on Knob Creek Road and was attempting to turn left onto Guaranda Drive and allegedly pulled into the path of the Honda Civic.
A passenger in the Civic, Jeremiah L. Stout, 24, 206 Edna Court, Apt. 71, Johnson City, was critically injured and later died from his injuries at Johnson City Medical Center. Douglass and the juvenile were both transported to JCMC where they were admitted with non-life-threatening conditions and on Sunday were in stable condition.
Police said seat belts were not worn by the occupants of the Civic, and this made a difference in the fatal injuries to Stout and the serious injuries to the juvenile. The crash is being investigated by the Johnson City Police Department Traffic Homicide Team, and charges are pending.
