ELIZABETHTON - Five people were injured, including one critically, in a head-on collision between a 2007 Honda Civic and 1994 Dodge pickup truck on Tenn. Highway 400 Wednesday evening.
Trooper Greg Marlowe of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the Honda was driven by James Bryan Smith, 27, 2006 Ridgefield Road, Johnson City.
The pickup truck was driven by Christopher John Ehrgott, 35, 112 Blevins Hollow Road.
There were three passengers in the Honda. They were Ashley Dawn Johnson, 20, 2012 Leeland Road, Johnson City; Steven Craig Shell, 24, 525 Shell Ridge Road, Unicoi; and Avonda Townsend, 302 Cripple Creek Loop, Watauga.
All five were transported by helicopter or ambulance to Johnson City Medical Center.
A hospital spokeswoman said Townsend was listed in critical condition Thursday night, Johnson was listed in serious condition, and Smith and Shell were each listed in fair condition.
Ehrgott had been discharged. Marlowe said the investigation is still in its early stages and he could not tell what caused the accident. No charges have been placed.
