WALLENS CREEK - A Lee County Sheriff's Department deputy was seriously injured early Monday evening while riding an all-terrain vehicle on his farm but is expected to fully recover, said Sheriff Gary Parsons.
Parsons said Lt. Taylor Scott had been spraying brush with equipment on his ATV in a rugged area when the vehicle overturned, trapping Scott underneath it.
Scott was able to call dispatch from his cell phone and then call a neighbor, who was able to free him before the rescue squad arrived.
Although Scott walked out to meet the ambulance, he was taken to Lee Regional Medical Center, where he was placed in the intensive care unit for the night due to a head injury and a possible back injury.
