The Massachusetts-based company has launched an aggressive national growth strategy that includes expanding into new markets in Tennessee, Ohio and the Carolinas. Ultimately, Dunkin' Donuts plans to triple the number of stores in the United States to 15,000 by 2020.
"The Tri-Cities market is an important hub and a gateway to expansion west of the Mississippi," according to a release.
Lynette McKee, vice president of franchising at Dunkin' Donuts, said the company's expansion plans create lots of opportunities for prospective franchisees. Dunkin' Donuts is seeking franchisees with multi-unit franchise capability to develop the local restaurant network.
"Our strong brand, combined with an outstanding management team that has created one of the strongest franchisor-franchisee relationships in the industry, has fueled profits and successful growth in all of our markets," McKee said.
"As we continue our rapid expansion, this is a particularly exciting time for any restaurant operator or real estate developer to join our brand and help develop the Dunkin' Donuts network."
The new restaurants will resemble a prototype that was unveiled in 2005. The design features a new, modernized appearance and advanced equipment to improve overall in-store and drive-through experiences for customers.
Dunkin' Donuts was founded in 1950 and currently operates more than 7,100 shops in 30 countries, including 5,300 locations in the United States.
