Staff reports • May 13, 2007 at 11:36 AM

A boating collision on a local lake Sunday night sent responders from both Sullivan and Washington counties to the rescue effort.

According to early reports, two boats collided head-on somewhere close to Sonny's Marina on Boone Lake about 9:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Other reports suggested the crash was near Lake Point Drive, which is nearby.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reported that three people were involved in the accident. However, SCSO officials said it was still too early to be absolutely sure of any injuries or the seriousness of the accident.

No one involved in the crash could be identified Sunday night.

Reports were coming in that some people were in the water following the wreck.

According to scant reports on police radio, two crash victims were taken to Winged Deer Park. There were no reports on the condition of the victims.

It was unclear Sunday night, but authorities believe that the crash occurred in Sullivan County. However, the Washington County Sheriff's Office sent deputies to assist in working the crash.

There were several emergency medical units responding to the scene, some in boats.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency was also called to the scene.
