Staff report • May 11, 2007 at 12:00 AM

A Tennessee man who was accidentally shot by his girlfriend at her Ewing home remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons said Marty D. Eads, Charles Shoffner Loop, Lot 32, Harrogate, was accidentally shot in the upper abdomen with a .22-caliber handgun early Tuesday morning by his girlfriend, Connie Littrell, at her residence in Brackett Trailer Park, Route 2, Ewing.

Eads was taken to Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital in Kentucky before being transferred to a Knoxville hospital in serious condition. Investigators said Thursday that Eads was in stable condition, and both Eads and Littrell said the shooting was an accident. No charges have been filed.
