Johnson City police find 80 pot plants in apartment while working a domestic dispute call

Timesnews.net staff report • Apr 17, 2007 at 12:00 AM

A domestic dispute call took an unexpected turn for Johnson City police and the couple involved late Monday night.

Officers went to 207 Edna Court, Apartment 92 shortly before midnight after a call about a domestic disturbance.

Once inside the apartment, officers found 80 marijuana plants in a bedroom. According to the police press release, officers also found all the equipment and supplies need to grow the pot plants in the bedroom.

As a result of that discovery, officers arrested Carols Morel, 26, and took him to jail.

The other occupant of the apartment - Laura Bowser, 19 - was given a citation to appear in court on May 3.

The police press report says she was issued a citation instead of being taken to jail "because of her medical condition." The release did not say what that medical condition was.

Morel is being held at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of an $11,000 bond.
