GREENEVILLE - A Canada-based tool company plans to bring 85 new jobs to Greene County, including 40 by the end of the year, officials announced Friday.

JessEm Tool Co. will locate a new manufacturing facility in the Mount Pleasant Industrial Park, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, in partnership with the Greene County Partnership, announced Friday in a news release.

JessEm Tool, a manufacturer of products for the woodworking industry, will move into a 54,000-square-foot speculative building in Greeneville. The company has plans to employ 40 people when it begins operations sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.

JessEm is making a $4 million capital investment with machinery and equipment purchases. Over a three- to five-year period, the company expects to hire more than 85 employees.

It will receive hiring assistance from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development through the Tennessee Career Centers network.

"JessEm Tool has made an excellent decision by investing in Tennessee. They are joining a class of other highly respected companies with operations here, and we're pleased to welcome them," ECD Commissioner Matthew Kisber said in a news release. "Tennessee is a great state in which to do business, and we are committed to maintaining a competitive business climate in which companies like JessEm Tool can thrive and grow. Additionally, today's announcement is further evidence of the Governor's Jobs Cabinet at work - partnering at the state and local level to create opportunities for our citizens, our communities and our industries."

ECD was actively involved for more than a year in the recruitment process for JessEm Tool. The state is also supporting the project with On-the-Job Training and FastTrack Job Training assistance.

"The Partnership and its volunteers work diligently to recruit strong, stable, quality industries for our community, and JessEm Tool Company meets all these criteria," said Dr. Don Henard, chairman of the Greene County Partnership board of directors.

JessEm, headquartered in Ontario, offers products for woodworkers around the world. The company's philosophy is to offer the highest level of quality at affordable prices. For more information, go to www.jessem.com.
