Kentucky man charged in Lee County copper theft

Clifford Pennington, 25, of Closplint, Ky., has been charged with grand larceny and conspiracy for allegedly stealing more than $5,000 worth of copper wiring from a Lee County mine.

According to arrest warrants, a security officer at the Keokee Mining LLC No. 1B site observed Pennington and two other workers loading the wiring into vehicles and leaving the job site.

Pennington will be arraigned Monday in Lee County General District Court.
